French senators urge Europe to bring algorithms under public scrutiny

Two reports presented to the French Senate’s European Affairs Committee in December demand that public access to algorithms governing platform work is assured. They also insist, among other things, that the algorithms are subject to regular audit.

Senators Florence Blatrix-Contat of the Socialist Party and Catherine Morin-Desailly of the Centrist party (Les Centristes) developed and presented the reports, calling on the EU to tighten platform regulation, in particular by amending the proposed Digital Markets Act (DMA) and Digital Services Act (DSA) currently under deliberation by EU institutions.
