How platforms’ lack of wage systems risks leaving their workers vulnerable

Companies in the growing platform economy have not set up the banking infrastructure needed to handle workers adequately or appropriately. That’s the view of Craig Lewis, founder and CEO of Gig Wage, a payments processing firm specialising in paying contract workers.

While flexibility has been among the chief selling points of gig working, those who rely on it for income have faced instability and vulnerability, especially since they do not enjoy many of the expectations or protections of traditional employees.
